Fabrication Laboratory

En ce moment et jusqu'à mai 2011 se déroule au DISSENY HUB de Barcelone un ensemble d'évènements ( expo, conférence, ateliers etc.) appelé Fabrication Laboratory ayant pour thème les nouvelles techniques de fabrication comme le prototypage rapide, appelé aussi stéréolithographie et déjà abordé ici.
On peut voir notamment le projet de Front Design, Sketch Furniture qui consiste à créer des objets directement dans l'air en utilisant la reconnaissance de mouvement couplé à une machine de stéréolithographie, sans passer par les phases conventionnelles de dessin.
La stéréolithographie permet de créer un objet complet sans assemblage, même des horloges! L'espace entre les engrenages est calculé pour permettre le mouvement. Il est également possible de créer des sculptures d'organes ou de foetus fidèles aux originaux, grâce aux informations de l'IRM.
Cette technique donne également naissance à de nouvelles formes jusqu' ici impossibles à réaliser. C'est la naissance de l'artisanat de série, avec le meilleur de chaque monde !

The rapid prototyping allows to create a full product without assembly, even clocks ! The space between gearings is calculated to allow the movement. It is also possible to produce accurate sculptures of organs or foetuses, thanks to the Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology.
This technique also gives new shapes impossible to create until now. This is the birth of batch crafting, with the best of both worlds!

Greg Saul et le prototypage de chaise à la maison

Le designer néo-zélandais Greg Saul travaille actuellement sur un logiciel Open Source permettant de créer et de construire des maquettes ou des objets réels de chez soi. Des outils simples permettent la réalisation de dessins en 2D qui sont ensuite extrapolés pour en tirer un objet 3D. On peut tester la solidité d'une chaise et sa viabilité en ajoutant une figurine avec un poids, et utiliser des objets contextuels pour créer un objet en fonction de sont utilisation.

Il suffit alors d'une machine à découpe numérique pour réaliser des maquettes papier de l'objet, ou de machines plus puissantes pour découper un matériau comme le bois ou le plastique avec un laser pour obtenir des prototypes fonctionnels.

Le programme est gratuit mais ne fonctionne que sur PC 32 bits pour le moment. Ce projet est une collaboration avec le projet Design UI (user interface) de l'agence JST (Japan Science and Technology Agency) dans le cadre du projet ERATO (Exploratory Research for Advanced Technology), à Tokyo.

New Zealand designer Greg Saul is currently working on Open Source software that allows to design and build models or real objects from home. Simple tools allow the design of 2D drawings that are then enhanced in 3D objects. The solidity and viability of a chair can be tested by adding a weighted figure, and contextual objects can be used to create an object according to its use.

Then the only thing you need is a cutting plotter to be able to cut out the shapes to make small paper models or using bigger laser cutting machines for wood or plastic life size objects.

The software is free but only runs on a 32 bits PC at the moment. This project is a collaboration with the project Design UI (user interface) from the JST agency (Japan Science and Technology Agency) within the ERATO project (Exploratory Research for Advanced Technology), in Tokyo.

la réalité augmentée pour les commerces en ligne

La réalité augmentée a déjà été abordé sur ce blog, ici. Plusieurs sociétés développent maintenant des applications utiles aux sites de vente en ligne, permettant d'essayer virtuellement les produits vendus, grâce au chargement d'une photo sur le site ou au moyen d'une webcam. La société Tissot a déjà développé un site avec Holition permettant d'essayer ses montres après avoir imprimé une montre en papier muni d'un code graphique en noir et blanc.

La société française Fittingbox a, elle, développée une application permettant d'essayer virtuellement des lunettes, en chargeant une photo sur leur site à partir d'un module flash. Un ajustement est proposé si le programme n'a pas reconnu correctement l'emplacement des yeux. Lacoste propose un site avec cette technologie, en ne permettant toutefois pas l'utilisation d'une webcam pour prendre la photo, ce qui est dommage. Les modèles essayés peuvent être conservées dans une galerie et les photos envoyées à une connaissance par mel.

Augmented Reality has been treated on this blog already here. Several companies are now developing useful apps for online shops, allowing to "try" the products sold on the site, thanks to the uploading of a photo on the website or with a webcam. The Tissot company already launched a website with Holition, allowing to try their watches after having printed a paper watch with a black and white graphic code.

French company Fittingbox has developed an application allowing to "wear" eyeglasses, by uploading a photo on their website from a flash module. Adjusting the glasses is proposed in case the program does not recognize the eyes properly. Lacoste launched a website with this technology, but the application doesn't allow the use of a webcam to take the picture, which is a shame. the models tried out can be kept in a gallery and the photos sent to a relative via email.

Renault dévoile petit à petit son concept car qui sera visible au prochain Mondial de l'Auto de Paris à l'automne. Electrique, avec des portes à ouverture inversée, il a été imaginé par l'équipe de Laurens van den Acke la nouvelle tête pensante du département design et est censé poser les bases des futurs modèles de la marque.
Renault is unveiling little by little its new concept car that will be showed at the next Mondial de l'Auto in Paris next fall. Electrically powered, with inverted opening doors, it has been designed by the team of Laurens van den Acke, the new head of design and is meant to set the basis of the next models of the brand.

Les incroyables chaussures de Marloes ten Bhömer

Née à Duiven, aux Pays-Bas, Marloes ten Bhömer a étudié le Design Produit à la Higher School of Arts Arnhem puis au Royal College of Arts de Londres. Elle crée depuis des modèles très avant-gardistes de chaussures, pliant le cuir, le contraignant pour trouver des nouvelles formes. Son vocabulaire de formes est très loin des conventions et traditions de la chaussure, ses propositions sont de véritables architectures, créant un nouveau langage.
Son travail a été exposé à Londres, Tokyo, en Allemagne et aux Pays-Bas. Elle est maintenant en train de créer sa propre marque de chaussures MARLOESTENBHÖMER.

Born in Duiven, Nederlands, Marloes ten Bhömer studied Product Design at the Higher School of Arts Arnhem and at the Royal College of Arts of London. She since creates very avant-garde shoes, folding and constraining leather to find new shapes. Her language of forms is very far away from the conventions and traditions of shoe making, her proposals are true architectures, thus creating a new language.
Her work has been exhibited in London, Tokyo, Germany, and the Netherlands. She is currently setting up her independant shoe label MARLOESTENBHÖMER.

Le drone est équipé de deux caméras et ouvre la voie à de nombreuses applications, même à espionner vos voisins!

3D types

Des étudiants du département design de l'université d'Aachen des Sciences appliquées en Allemagne ont construit pendant une semaine des typos en 3D, puis sont allés à la gare de cette même ville afin de créer des performances typographiques.

La technologie 3D interactive est au coeur de nombreuses recherches, comme celle-ci ou celle-là par exemple.

Mais un laboratoire japonais, le Shinoda Lab, a présenté au SIGGRAPH 2009 l'Airbone Ultrasound Tactile Display, un procédé révolutionnaire qui utilise les ultrasons pour créer des résistances dans l'air. Cela permet de créer des champs de pression statiques appelées "pressions de radiation acoustique" que l'on peut "toucher". Couplé à un écran de visualisation 3D (ou conventionnel), on peut donc agir directement ou indirectement sur un objet virtuel, en "sentant sa présence" : l'objet 3D est interprété sur l'écran 3D et sur l'écran tactile à ultrasons, qui va créer des résistances dans l'air permettant de "toucher" l'objet. L'interaction est réelle puisque l'objet "agît" également sur l'utilisateur par son "poids" ou ses "mouvements".
L'avantage de cette technologie réside dans sa facilité d'utilisation, puisqu'aucun gant n'est nécessaire, et dans sa précision, notamment par rapport aux technologies concurrentes utilisant la propulsion d'air pour créer la résistance.

The interactive 3D technology is in the heart of numerous researches, as this one or that one for example.

Thomas Redigh a réalisé un clip pour Daniel Larsson presque tout en légo, même si l'idée n'est pas neuve (on se souvient notamment du clip de Gondry pour The White Stripes) on peut saluer la performance, avec des mouvements de caméra complexes et des animations en 3D!

Des scientifiques allemands de l'institut Fraunhofer pour la technologie chimique (ICT) de Pfinztal ont mis au point l'arboform, un matériau bio qui pourrait remplacer les plastiques issus du pétrole. Constitué de lignine (un composé du bois) et mélangé à d'autres fibres comme le chanvre ou le lin, des additifs naturels comme de la cire sont ajoutés pour en faire des granulés, prêts à être injectés moulés.

Ce matériau se comporte comme un plastique issu de la prétrochimie, puisqu'une fois moulé il peut être à nouveau réduit en granules et réinjecté, sans perte de qualité.
Il peut être également usiné comme du bois, et possède la chaleur du bois au toucher.

German scientists from the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology (ICT) in Pfinztal, Germany created the arboform, a bio material that could replace pretroleum based plastics. Constituted of lignin (a component of wood) and mixed with other fibers such as hemp or flax, natural additives such as wax are added to make granules out of it, ready to be injection moulded.
This material behave as a plastic from the chemical industry, as he can be moulded and then reduced to granules again to be remoulded, without quality loss.
It can also be machined just like wood, and has the same warm feeling than wood

On retrouve les tous premiers numéros de l'Officiel de la Mode, datant de 1921, et des autres titres du groupe, jusqu'à ceux du mois précédent !! Une ressource incroyable pour tous les passionnés de mode.
Jalou gallery est aussi un magazine en ligne, avec des infos sur la mode, les people, la joaillerie, la culture, etc. Le site contient également une galerie pour les jeunes talents de la photographie, de l'art contemporain et de la mode.

Mark Khaisman

Mark Khaisman est un artiste vivant aux Etats-Unis et né à Kiev en Ukraine en 1958. Son oeuvre s'articule autour d'une technique originale : il se sert de scotch brun utilisé généralement pour le carton, qu'il colle sur des panneaux de plexiglas en plusieurs couches pour faire varier l'opacité et la densité de la couleur.
Il a exposé dans différentes galeries dans le monde et a gagné de nombreux prix, parmi eux le prix du Meilleur Directeur Artistique lors du Festival International du Film d'Animation de Paris en 1988 et plus récemment le Red Dot Design Award en 2008 avec l'agence Jung Von Matt.

Mark Khaisman is an artist born in Kiev Ukraine in 1954 and living in the USA. His art is based on an original technique : he uses brown cellotape normally used for cardboard, and sticks them on perspex panels in several layers in order to vary the opacity and density of the color.
He has exhibited in various places around the world and won several prizes, among them was the Best art Director Prize of the International Animation Festival of Paris, in 1988 and the Red Dot Design Award in 2008 with the agency Jung Von Matt.

Marie-Aurore Stiker-Métral est une créatrice de 27 ans diplômée des Ateliers (Ensci) après une maîtrise de philosophie. Son ingénieux projet de fin d'études avait pour titre "techniques domestiques" et reconsidérait les techniques d'assemblage de pièces de mobilier.

Vous avez abordé la création de manière théorique puis pratique dans votre parcours scolaire, qu'est ce qui vous a poussé à ce choix?
Je ne sais pas si on peut dire que j’ai choisi de faire délibérément les choses dans cet ordre. Disons plutôt que j’ai commencé par faire des études de philo durant lesquelles je me suis plus particulièrement intéressée à l’esthétique. J’ai ensuite suivi une deuxième formation. Mais mes créations ne découlent absolument pas de la construction d’une pensée théorique.
Comment définir votre vision de créateur en une phrase?
Rendre un désir concret
Quelle est votre manière favorite de travailler?
Dessiner, bricoler et inversement.
Quelles sont vos sources d'inspiration?
Souvent des techniques de fabrication.
D'où vous est venu l'idée de créer des meubles assemblés avec des cordes, issu de votre projet "techniques domestiques"?
Cette idée m’est venue de l’observation de points de couture. Il s’agit en quelque sorte de bois cousu.

Et qu'en est-il de cette nouvelle façon de rembourrer une assise issue du même projet, (en utilisant un tissage de boudins rembourrés de mousse) comment vous est venu cette idée?
Je réutilise la technique de tissage d’une sangle ( c’est-à-dire un tissage qui crée une surface très résistante) mais à une autre échelle et avec des matériaux qui me semblent correspondre au confort recherché.
Pouvez vous nous expliquer le concept du verre luisant que vous avez créé avec Felipe Ribon pour Véolia?
Il s’agit d’un verre pour la nuit. Il réunit les deux fonctions de verre et de veilleuse. Grâce à sa phosphorescence, il est facilement repérable dans la nuit.

You started creation in a theoretical fashion at first and then from a practical point of view in your studies, what did you make this choice?
I don't know if one can say that I actually chose to do things that way and in that order. let's say I started by philosophic studies where I got particularly interested in aesthetics. I then did a 2nd degree course. But my creations do not relate to the construction of a theorical thought.

The idea came from the observation of sewing nods. It is a bit like sewing wood in a way.
And what about this new way to re-empholster a seat, from the same project (using a weaving of foam rods)?
i am re-using the technique of a belt (ie a weaving that creates a very strong surface) but on another scale and with materials that respond to the comfort sought after.
Can you explain the concept of the glowing worm that you created with Felipe Ribon for Véolia?
It is a glass for the night. it re-unites the functions of a glass and a night light. Thanx to its phosphorescence, it can easily be seen at night.

Ada Zanditon a commencé à faire des vêtements avec du papier de soie coloré et du scotch, à l'âge de 5 ans. Depuis, sa passion pour la mode n'a cessé de grandir et après son diplôme en mode féminine au London College of Fashion elle a débuté son propre label à l'âge de 25 ans.
Ada Zanditon started to design clothes with coloured tissue paper and sellotape, at the age of 5. Since then her passion for fashion hasn't stopped growing and after graduating from a BA in Women's wear design at the London College of Fashion she started her own label at the age of 25.

VOUS AVEZ TRAVAILLÉ AVEC ALEXANDER MCQUEEN PENDANT 2 ANS, QUEL ÉTAIT VOTRE RESPONSABILITÉ CHEZ LUI? j'ai commencé mon stage chez McQueen à mi-temps à l'âge de 19 ans, en alternant avec le travail et les études, mais j'ai trouvé que l'expérience tant de valeur que j'ai quitté le cours dans lequel je m'étais inscrite à Middlesex pour pouvoir faire un temps plein à l'occasion de la deuxième et troisième saison. C'était une très bonne expérience. Puis j'ai fait la quatrième saison à mi-temps, car j'avais compris ce que je voulais réaliser, et j'ai créé ma première collection que j'ai exposée dans une galerie en Janvier 2004.

VOUS AVEZ COLLABORÉ AVEC GARETH PUGH POUR SA COLLECTION AUTOMNE-HIVER 2007/2008, COMMENT L'AVEZ VOUS RENCONTRÉ? J'ai répondu à un message Myspace de Gareth qui cherchait des gens pour l'assister à cette époque. Je suis allée à son studio, je l'ai rencontré et lui ai montré mon portfolio, comme d'habitude!

QUEL ÉTAIT VOTRE TRAVAIL AU SEIN DE SON ÉQUIPE? CELA VOUS-A-T-IL PLU? Mon rôle était de réaliser l'idée que Gareth avait de créer de vêtement en utilisant des triangles, des formes dans des formes pour créer des motifs basés sur cette idée, en opposition aux techniques de drapé ou de constructions en blocs. C'était un processus excitant. Gareth a une vision forte en termes de design et de réalisation. C'était un plaisir de travailler avec lui et son équipe. Je n'ai pas seulement apprécié l'expérience, cela m'a aussi donné la confiance pour commencer ma propre société et croire en ma propre vision.

COMMENT DÉFINIRIEZ-VOUS VOTRE VISION EN UNE PHRASE? ma vision est de créer des formes élégantes très fortes en ayant une approche éthique et écologique.

QUEL EST LE THÈME DE VOTRE DERNIÈRE COLLECTION? Pour ma collection de diplôme l'inspiration était les Boston Red Sox (équipe de Base-Ball NDLR), The Patriots (équipe de football américain) et aussi du mobilier sexy des années 70... pour ma dernière collection mon inspiration était similaire mais en plus avec une exploration de lignes traversant une forme tridimensionnelle, et des chapeaux de lampes fabuleux...

QUELLE A ÉTÉ LA PHASE LA PLUS DIFFICILE DANS LA RÉALISATION DE VOTRE COLLECTION? Tout est difficile si vous le rendez difficile. Trouver les fonds est toujours un challenge mais je crois vraiment qu'il n'est pas important de focaliser sur ce qui est le plus dur mais d'apprécier tout ce qui est possible et ne pas se donner d'excuses. Tout ce qui vaut le coup demande de la détermination et beaucoup de travail.

COMBIEN DE GENS SONT INTERVENUS DANS CETTE COLLECTION? (rires) Waouh... c'est une grande question. Et bien d'abord il y a eu les fermiers qui ont fait pousser le coton organique, le chanvre et le bambou ou les arbres des forêts renouvelables, et les vers à soie ... mais je vais surtout profiter de cette question pour remercier mes assistants Cyn, Louis, Lawrence, Timothy et Chris. Mes amis et ma famille sont aussi très positifs.

COMBIEN DE COLLECTIONS AVEZ-VOUS RÉALISÉ AVANT CELLE-CI? Avant de créer ma collection Emergence j'en ai conçu et réalisé cinq ou six mais pour des ventes privées, le fun et l'expérience.

COMMENT TRAVAILLEZ D'HABITUDE POUR LA CREATION D'UNE COLLECTION? Je mets un album de Kylie et commence à travailler! Comme je viens juste de commencer il n'y a pas encore d'habitudes à ce sujet et j'espère qu'il n'y en aura pas à part pour la logistique.

COMMENT CONSIDÉREZ-VOUS LA MODE ÉTHIQUE? POUVEZ-VOUS NOUS EN DIRE PLUS SUR LA FAçON DONT VOUS VOYEZ L'INDUSTRIE DE LA MODE ÉVOLUER DANS LES 5 PROCHAINES ANNÉES? le design éthique est l'opportunité que nous avons en tant qu'humanité de s'adapter au monde naturel qui est en plein changement. Nous expérimentons des climats de plus en plus extrêmes, des bouleversements dans les saisons et le niveau de la mer monte. Nous devons faire face à ce que l'industrialisation humaine a fait à notre planète et penser à notre évolution et à notre co-existence avec la nature. Ma propre manière de réagir est de réaliser une mode éthique, renouvelable et beaucoup de gens dans l'industrie de la mode et dans l'agro-alimentaire pensent la même chose.

VOUS ÊTES ÉGALEMENT ILLUSTRATRICE, Où POUVONS NOUS VOIR VOTRE TRAVAIL? Il y a un nouveau travail dans la prochaine édition de Gazelland magazine en Novembre, une sorte d'autoportrait ... c'est une petite incursion dans Ada Land!

QUI EST VOTRE CRÉATEUR FAVORI? Le premier créateur dont j'ai connu le nom et dont j'ai reconnu le travail à l'âge de 6 ou 7 ans est Azzedine Alaïa. Je suis tombé amoureuse de pratiquement tout ce qu'il a fait pendant presque 20 ans. En ce moment je suis aussi très impressionnée et je respecte le travail de Louise Goldin. Elle est visionnaire et la réalisation est incroyable.

VOTRE CRÉATEUR FAVORI MÉCONNU? Stefan Orschel-Read pour son vestiaire masculin spectaculalre raffiné et William Tempest (finaliste de fashion Fringe, donc pas vraiment inconnu) pour sa mode féminine sexy et très bien coupée.

VOTRE NOUVEAU MORCEAU DE MUSIQUE PRÉFÉRÉ : Bishi – Never seen your face. Les arrangements qu'elle a réalisé pendant le Jonathan Ross Show étaient fantastiques!

VOTRE ARTISTE FAVORI : Anish Kapoor - Son travail dit tout pour moi.

LA PROCHAINE IDÉE SUR LAQUELLE VOUS ALLEZ TRAVAILLER : je ne peux pas trop en dire... mais je pense qu'il est temps d'amener mes illustrations dans ma mode et vice-versa, il est temps qu'ils soient présentés l'un à l'autre.

ET ENSUITE? Je fais un show en Chine grâce à l'agence Artstalker et Intime le 12 Novembre. Les détails seront sur le site bientôt. Je vais également montrer 2 ou 3 fois mon travail à Londres, pour Before Encore 3 Finale pour l'évènement de John Lee Birds, il a créé une superbe peinture de moi. YOU WORKED WITH ALEXANDER MCQUEEN FOR 2 YEARS, WHAT WAS YOUR POSITION THERE? I began my work placement at McQueen part time at the age of 19 , balancing that with college and work but found the experience to be so valuable that I left the degree I had started at Middlesex to make my placement full time for the second and third season. It was a great experience. The fourth season I did part time as by then I had formed my own ideas of things that I wished to realise and made my own first collection which I exhibited at a gallery in January 2004.

YOU COLLABORATED WITH GARETH PUGH FOR HIS 2007/2008 WINTER COLLECTION, HOW DID YOU MEET HIM? I responded to a message Gareth put on myspace looking for people to assist with that season. I went to his studio and met him, showed him my portfolio, the usual!

WHAT WAS YOUR PART IN HIS TEAM? DID YOU ENJOY IT?My role was to realise the concept Gareth had for creating garments made using triangles, shapes within shapes to create patterns based on this concept as opposed to drafting from blocks or draping. It was an exciting process. Gareth has a very strong vision both in terms of design and realisation. It was a pleasure to work with him and his team. I not only enjoyed the experience but it gave me the confidence to begin my own company and believe in my own vision.

HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE YOUR DESIGN VISION IN ONE SENTENCE? My design vision is to create really strong elegant forms using a sustainable/eco conscious work ethic.

WHAT IS THE THEME OF YOUR LAST COLLECTION? For my graduate collection the inspiration was the Boston Red Sox, The Patriots (American football team) and some really sexy sleek 70’s furniture.... For the current collection my inspiration was similar but with more of an exploration of lines travelling across a 3d form and some really fabulous lampshades.....

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART FOR THE MAKING OF YOUR COLLECTION? Everything is as hard as you make it. Funding is always the most challenging but I really believe that its not important to focus on what is hardest but to appreciate all the things that are possible and not to make excuses. Anything that’s worth having requires hard work and determination.

HOW MANY PEOPLE GOT INVOLVED IN THIS COLLECTION?'' Lol! Wow............ that’s a big question. Well........ first in the process there are the farmers who grow the organic cotton, hemp and the bamboo or the trees in sustainable forests and the silk worms...... but crucially I will use this question to say a big thank you to my interns, Cyn, Louis, Lawrence, Timothy and Chris. My friends and family are incredibly supportive also.''

HOW MANY COLLECTIONS DID YOU DESIGN BEFORE THIS ONE? Before designing my current collection Emergence I had designed and realised five or six collections but for private sales, fun and experience.

HOW DO YOU USUALLY WORK FOR THE CREATION OF A COLLECTION? I put on a Kylie album and get down to work! As I’ve only just begun there’s not much usual about it and really I hope there won’t be other than the logistics.

HOW DO YOU CONSIDER ETHICAL FASHION? CAN YOU TELL US MORE ON HOW YOU SEE THE FASHION INDUSTRY EVOLVING FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS? Ethical Design is the opportunity we have now as a humanity to adapt to the natural world which is changing. We are experiencing more dramatic weather patterns, seasonal changes and the sea level is rising. We must face up to what human industrialisation has done to our planet and work out how we will continue to be and co-exist. My personal way is through ethically and sustainably made fashion design and many in the fashion industry just as in the food industry are thinking the same.

YOU ARE ALSO AN ILLUSTRATOR, WHERE CAN YOUR ILLUSTRATIONS BE SEEN ? There is a new work coming out in the next issue of Gazelleland magazine in November, a self portrait ... of sorts.......... it’s a little peak into Ada Land!

WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE DESIGNER ? The first designer whose name I knew and whose work I recognized though from when I was six or seven, is Azzedine Alaia. I’ve been in love with almost everything he does for nearly twenty years now... Presently I am also really impressed and respect the work of Louise Goldin. She’s got a great vision and the realisation is amazing.

YOUR FAVOURITE TOTALLY UNKNOWN DESIGNER : Stefan Orschel-Read for his spectacular and refined menswear and William Tempest (fashion fringe finalist so technically not unknown) for his incredibly well cut and sexy women’s wear.

YOUR FAVOURITE BRAND NEW TUNE : Bishi – Never seen your face. The arrangement she played of it on Jonathan Ross Show was fantastic!

YOUR FAVOURITE ARTIST : Anish Kapoor - His work says everything to me.

THE NEXT IDEA YOU ARE GOING TO WORK ON : That would be telling....... but I feel it is time to bring my illustration into my fashion and vice versa – its time they got formally introduced.

WHAT'S NEXT ? I’m showing in China thanks to ArtStalker agency and Intime in November 12th. Details to go up on the website soon. I will also be doing two or three shows in London, for Before Encore 3 Finale for John Lee Birds’ event , he has created a fabulous painting of me. I am through to the final round of a sustainable design competition by LCF for which there will be a show on October 27th invitation only, being judged by Colin McDowell and Adilli.com. En étudiant le droit Stéfan Oscheal-Read se rendit compte que sa manière favorite de se relaxer était de dessiner des collections de mode pendant ses examens : il décida d'entrer au cours de mode Homme du Central Saint Martins de Londres. Maintenant âgé de 25 ans, Stéfan présente sa nouvelle collection sous son propre label Orschel-Read. Entretien.

Studying Law Stéfan Oschel-Read realized that his favourite way of relaxing was to design fashion collections during his law exams : he decided to enter the Menswear fashion degree course at Central Saint Martins, London. Now 25 Stéfan introduces his new collection under his own label Orschel Read. Interview.

COMMENT DÉFINIRIEZ-VOUS VOTRE VISION DU DESIGN EN UNE PHRASE? Vêtements de luxe pour votre alter ego alternatif.

QUEL EST LE THÈME DE VOTRE DERNIÈRE COLLECTION? Elle s'intitulait "Deuil pour Orlando", et était fondée sur le livre de Virginia Woolf de 1928, "Orlando".

POUR VOTRE DERNIÈRE COLLECTION, VOUS AVEZ TRAVAILLÉ AVEC PETER ASHWORTH POUR LES PHOTOS ET CHRISTIAN LANDON POUR LA COIFFURE, COMMENT LES AVEZ-VOUS RENCONTRÉ ET COMMENT AVEZ-VOUS TRAVAILLÉ AVEC EUX ? Peter Ashworth m'a contacté il y a quelques années pour prendre mon portrait. Nous nous sommes trouvés des visions similaires sur ce que la mode pouvait être et nous avons travaillé ensemble depuis. Christian Landon m'a trouvé dans un club et s'est présenté à moi. Nous sommes devenus de bons amis lorsqu'il vivait en Amérique. J'ai aidé à le convaincre de venir s'installer ici (à Londres NDLR) et il est devenu mon colocataire.

COMBIEN DE PERSONNES SONT INTERVENUES DANS LA PRÉPARATION DE CETTE COLLECTION ? Il y a eu à peu près 30 personnes qui ont aidé à cette collection.

COMBIEN DE COLLECTIONS AVEZ-VOUS RÉALISÉ AVANT CELLE-CI ? J'ai réalisé 3 collections en équipe et une tout seul avant celle-ci.

COMMENT TRAVAILLEZ-VOUS HABITUELLEMENT POUR LA CRÉATION D'UNE COLLECTION? Je trouve un sujet qui me fascine et m'emploie à trouver autant de visuels que je peux. Une fois que j'ai fait ça, une idée claire et évidente se forme sur la façon de traduire toutes les théories que j'ai étudié en création.

VOS VÊTEMENTS SONT-ILS VENDUS À PARIS OU EN LIGNE ? Tous mes vêtements sont haute-couture pour le moment, ils ne sont donc disponible que par mon intermédiaire.

COMMENT AVEZ VOUS CONTRIBUÉ À GAZELLAND MAGAZINE ? Gazelle m'a été présentée à Kash Point, un club dont je m'occupais. Nos idées d'utiliser un magazine comme une plateforme pour les artistes émergents et confirmés de l'avant-garde dans le but de montrer leur travail étaient similaires.

QUEL EST VOTRE CRÉATEUR FAVORI ? Je suis un grand fan de Yohji Yamomoto

QUEL EST VOTRE CRÉATEUR FAVORI MÉCONNU ? Ada Zanditon fait un travail sculptural incroyable en mode femme.

VOTRE NOUVEAU MORCEAU DE MUSIQUE PRÉFÉRÉ ? Lykke Li’s ‘I’m good, I’m gone’. Le clip est génial également.

ARTISTE FAVORI ? René Magritte. ‘Le dormeur’ est ma préférée de ses peintures.

Christian Landon found me in a club and introduced himself to me. He and I became good friends while he was living in America. I helped convince him to move here (in London) and he became my housemate.''
